What it is

Voidleap Code is a desktop IDE for building software with AI agents. It runs locally on your machine with your own AI provider accounts or a local model, giving you complete visibility into every prompt, tool call, and file change. The application is built from scratch as a purpose-built agentic harness rather than a wrapper around existing tools, allowing you to direct agents, watch them work, and edit context in real time.

The IDE supports multiple AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, GitHub Copilot, AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, xAI, Meta, Kimi, OpenRouter, Opper, Antigravity, Moonshot AI, Berget) as well as local models through Ollama. You can switch providers mid-thread and mix multiple providers in a single task. Every agent, skill, system prompt, and security rule is user-editable at global, workspace, and project scopes.

Voidleap Code emphasizes professional control and observability with features like per-turn token counting, cost tracking, latency measurement, and cache hit analysis. It includes security features such as four execution modes (Default, Read-only, Careful, Yolo), AST-aware command parsing, and optional macOS sandboxing. The platform runs entirely on your local machine—your code and prompts do not pass through Voidleap's servers.

What it is built with

  • Multi-provider model support with per-thread, per-agent, and per-turn switching
  • Visual context editing with ability to remove messages, tool calls, or files
  • Per-turn token count, cost, latency, and cache-hit telemetry
  • User-editable agents, skills, hooks, and system prompts at global, workspace, and project scope
  • Four execution modes with AST-parsed shell commands and sensitive-path blocking
  • Local code index with symbol and reference navigation
  • Parallel threads and worker threads in one view with thread forking
  • Built-in browser with page annotation for agents
  • Full custom grid layout for multiple agents

Questions from the bench

How is Voidleap Code different from Claude Code, Cursor, or Pi?
Voidleap Code is a purpose-built desktop harness built from scratch for all providers and local models, with visual configuration of agents, skills, and context tools. Claude Code and Codex are built around their vendors' own models. Cursor is an IDE but routes prompts through Cursor's servers and belongs to a model vendor. Pi lives in the terminal and requires manual per-tool configuration. Voidleap emphasizes professional control over everyone-friendly design.
Can I work without a constant internet connection?
Yes, for agent execution with local models your prompts and code stay entirely on your machine with no provider in the loop. Voidleap Code only requires periodic license validation; once validated, you can stay offline for 24 hours.
Can I see what I am spending?
Yes, the dashboard includes over 30 charts covering cost trends, per-model, per-agent, per-thread, per-tool, and cache hit rate, all exportable.
What happens when my thread gets long?
You stay in control with visual context that lets you click any message, tool call, or file and tell the agent to forget it without restarting the thread. AI Prune in suggest mode shows you what will be removed before applying. Four slash commands manage context: /context, /trim, /prune, and /compact.
Where does my code go?
Voidleap Code uses a local agentic runtime on your machine. You choose where inference runs: through a provider or on local hardware. The architecture is locked local - on localhost only, all application data in ~/.voidleap/. The inference is your choice: a cloud provider for raw capability, or a local model for full provider privacy. Voidleap Code doesn't see your code either way.
