Snap CD

What it is

Snap CD is an orchestration platform for Terraform infrastructure deployments. It breaks infrastructure into modular units, each with its own state file and lifecycle, eliminating monolithic Terraform states. The platform uses event-driven continuous deployment, triggering on commits, version changes, or output modifications, with approval gates for human review. It keeps cloud credentials isolated through runners deployed in customer infrastructure, ensuring per-environment credential isolation. Role-based access control is applied at organization, stack, namespace, and module levels, with no unenforced paths regardless of API or dashboard access.

What's the difference between Cloud and Self-Hosted?

Snap CD Cloud is a hosted service where you sign up and start running pipelines immediately. Self-Hosted is a license key installed into your own Snap CD Server installation. Both use the same product, just different deployment models.

What counts as a 'module'?

A module is a single Terraform or OpenTofu root module with its own state file. Unlike competitors, Snap CD doesn't count resources, so you can have unlimited resources in each module.

What happens when my license expires?

Your server keeps running on Community defaults with 10 modules and the baseline feature set. There is no hard lockout, and you can renew or replace the key at any time to restore the full tier.

How does metered billing work?

On Cloud only, you pay a base fee plus usage-based charges for modules and users. Usage is calculated based on how long each module or user exists during the billing period, summed up and rounded to the nearest whole unit.
