What it is

notionmanager.com, as visitors see it

NotionManager is a self-hosted backup and versioning tool for Notion that runs entirely locally on your machine. It allows you to backup pages, databases, relations and rollups with native-like browsing capabilities, without relying on cloud services or subscriptions.

The application addresses key limitations of Notion's native export tools, which often strip away complex database relations and formulas. It prevents data loss from accidental deletions, sync conflicts, and provides offline access to your knowledge base independent of Notion's server availability.

NotionManager operates on a one-time payment model with no recurring subscriptions. The free tier allows basic backups and local browsing, while paid licenses add scheduled backups, retention policies, remote browsing, full-text search, and repository import/export capabilities. All paid licenses include one year of free software updates.

What it is built with

  • Native-like local browsing of backups
  • Cold backup support

Pricing

Free tier available; Basic at $29, Premium at $59, Team at $149, and Enterprise at $299 as one-time payments with one year of free updates included.

Questions from the bench

Is a cold backup searchable or browsable like a normal one?
Once imported, yes. It opens as its own profile and reads like any other copy. While it is archived, it is a file rather than a live backup.
Why is the imported profile read-only?
So that nothing can write into an archive. An archive only needs to be browsed and exported. If anyone could write into it, the very thing it was made to survive could destroy it.
How often should I make a cold copy?
It depends on the cost. Make one whenever losing everything since the last copy would be unacceptable: monthly, quarterly, or before a risky change. It is a deliberate act, not a schedule you set and forget.
Is one archived file enough?
No single copy ever is. Keep the archive off-site, keep a second one if the data warrants it, and check now and then that the file still opens.
