What it is
Narqo is a free online tool that checks whether images are AI-generated by reading proof written into files by AI generators, rather than guessing from pixels. It reads signed Content Credentials from ChatGPT, Gemini and Firefly; IPTC "made by AI" labels from Midjourney and others; and generation settings from Stable Diffusion and similar tools. The tool processes all files in your browser without uploading them, keeping your images private. It works on any image type—photos, digital art, illustrations, anime and logos—as long as the original file still carries its AI signals. When signals are missing, which often happens after images are shared on social media or screenshotted, Narqo tells you plainly that it cannot decide, rather than providing a potentially incorrect confidence score.

- Can this tool tell if any image is AI-generated?
- No tool can do that reliably. The checker reads the proof that AI tools write into their files. If that proof is present, it shows it. If the image was shared on Instagram, WhatsApp or X, or screenshotted, the proof is usually gone and the tool says so instead of guessing.
- Why does the tool not give an AI percentage score?
- Score-based detectors guess from pixels and often fail. Independent tests in 2026 found open models caught about 1 in 5 images from new generators, and paid tools labelled up to 40% of real news photos as AI. A wrong score can harm real photographers, so the tool only reports what the file proves.
- What does "No AI signals found" mean?
- It means the file carries no AI label, no Content Credentials and no generator settings. It does not mean the image is real. Most AI images lose these signals when uploaded to social media or saved again.
- Is my image uploaded when I check it?
- No. The file is read inside your browser. Content Credentials are verified with Adobe's open-source C2PA library running on your device, against the official C2PA trust list. Only the optional SynthID link sends your file to Google, and only if you choose to use it.
- What are Content Credentials (C2PA)?
- A signed record inside the file that says which app made or edited it. OpenAI, Adobe and Microsoft add one to every AI image they generate, and so does Google for Gemini images. When the signature belongs to a certificate on the C2PA trust list, the result is labelled "Signed proof".
