Questions from the bench

Is there a Windows Explorer for Mac?

Not officially — Microsoft does not make Explorer for macOS. FileNav is the closest alternative, a native Mac file manager that recreates the Windows Explorer workflow with dual-pane browsing, an always-visible folder tree, an editable address bar, and the keyboard shortcuts Windows users expect.

How do I open files with Enter on a Mac?

In Finder, pressing Enter renames the file instead and there is no setting to change this behavior. FileNav restores the Windows standard: press Enter and the file or folder opens.

How do I cut and paste files on a Mac?

Finder does not support ⌘X for files; the hidden method is to copy with ⌘C, then paste-and-move with ⌥⌘V. FileNav supports normal cut and paste from the toolbar, context menu, and keyboard — the same way it works on Windows.

Is FileNav a subscription?

No. FileNav is a one-time payment with no subscription required. The base version costs $14.99 and FileNav Pro costs $29.99. A 14-day free trial is available with all Pro features included and no credit card needed.

Does FileNav work like Windows Explorer?

Yes. FileNav recreates the Windows Explorer workflow on macOS with Enter opening files, standard cut and paste working correctly, an editable address bar, and a folder tree staying visible in the sidebar — so Windows muscle memory carries directly to Mac.
