Dictami is a voice dictation application for Mac that transcribes speech to text entirely on your device without sending audio to any server. You hold down a customizable key, speak naturally, and punctuated text appears in whatever application your cursor is in within about half a second. The app supports 30 languages at full speed with automatic punctuation and capitalization.

The application requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) and works completely offline after downloading a language model once from Settings. It includes a dictation history with playback, customizable hotkeys, and requires no account, sign-up, or login—you enter a license key once and the app never asks for anything again.

Does any audio leave my Mac?
No. Recognition runs on your machine with nothing uploaded to any server. The app keeps a history of your dictations including recordings on your Mac, which you can switch off in Settings.
What Mac do I need?
You need macOS 14 Sonoma or later on an Apple Silicon Mac with an M1 or newer processor. Intel Macs are not supported because the recognition engine is built for Apple Silicon.
Does it work with no internet?
Yes. You download a language model once from Settings, and after that the app never needs an internet connection, including on a plane.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed. You buy a license key, paste it once, and that is the last time the app asks you for anything.
Can I get a refund?
Within 14 days of purchase, for any reason, with no questions asked. Email support with your purchase information and the money will be refunded.
