About Search Engines & Browsers
This is the bench for tools that help people find things online and move around the web. Home-built search indexes, small metasearch tools, browsers assembled from scratch or forked with care, and start pages that turn a blank tab into a working desk all sit here. The people behind them are solo builders and small crews, shipping in public and showing the workings.
Each project sits in a subcategory, and this page gathers them all with filters to narrow things down. New launches show first. Switch to community votes if you would rather see what visitors rate highly; votes cannot be bought. If you build in this corner, put your project forward at /submit and take your time over the draft before it goes out.

Search Engines & Browsers: questions answered
- What belongs in Search Engines & Browsers?
- Products whose main job is finding, filtering or opening web content: search engines, privacy-minded search, browsers, and new tab or start page tools. If search is only a side feature of something else, pick the category that matches what the product mainly does.
- Which subcategory suits my project?
- Think about what the user does first. Typing a query into a results page points to search engines, or private search when not tracking people is the pitch. Software that loads pages is a browser. A screen that greets you in a fresh tab is a start page.
- How do I get a project listed in this category?
- Go to /submit and give your website's URL. The AI writes a first draft of the profile from your site, and you review and change each field before anything is published. You pick the category during that step. A paid launch is $5; free listings wait in a queue.
- Can my project sit in more than one category?
- Your main category is included free. A browser with a built-in start page, say, might want a second home. Extra categories come with an upgrade priced at $5, which gives you 3 more slots on top of the main one.
- How are products ordered on the page?
- Fresh launches lead by default. Visitors can flip the order to rank by community votes, and no payment can buy a vote, so a high place reflects what people actually liked. Filters help you narrow the list within any subcategory.
