What it is

SRT2Word is a browser-based tool for converting subtitle and transcript files into editable Microsoft Word documents. It accepts standard SubRip (.srt), WebVTT (.vtt), ASS/SSA, and Zoom plain-text transcripts, then rebuilds them as readable paragraphs with optional speaker labels and timestamps.

The tool processes all conversion work locally in your browser—parsing and Word document generation never send your files to an external server. One file converts free forever with no account required. The output opens in Microsoft Word, Word Online, Google Docs, and LibreOffice.

Features include speaker detection and merge (consecutive lines from the same speaker combine into paragraphs), a live preview that updates as you toggle timestamps on or off, and multiple export formats: .docx download, copy to clipboard, standalone HTML, and print-to-PDF. Pro adds batch processing for folders of subtitle files and custom header/footer text on downloads, available as a one-time $4.99 payment rather than a subscription.

What it is built with

Questions from the bench

Is SRT2Word free?
Yes. One file—SRT, VTT, ASS, or a Zoom transcript—converts to Word forever with no account. Parsing and .docx generation stay in your browser; captions are not uploaded to convert. Pro is batch ZIP plus header and footer.
What does Pro unlock?
Pro adds batch ZIP (multiple .srt/.vtt/.ass/.ssa files converted to one ZIP of .docx) and header/footer text on downloads. It is a one-time payment that does not renew.
Does my transcript get uploaded?
No. Parsing and .docx generation run entirely in your browser. Your captions never leave your device for conversion.
What formats are supported?
Standard SubRip (.srt), WebVTT (.vtt) including voice tags, ASS/SSA dialogue events (.ass/.ssa), and common Zoom plain-text transcripts with speaker and timecode blocks. Complex karaoke, drawings, and font effects flatten to plain timed text.
Can I merge speakers and hide timestamps?
Yes. Consecutive cues from the same speaker merge into readable paragraphs. Use the timestamp toggle to create a clean reading script without time codes.
