About Other
Every workshop has a bin of parts nobody can label. This is ours. Other holds the products and businesses whose makers read the whole category list and could not honestly pick one: a hardware-meets-software gadget, a quirky newsletter experiment, a tool for a trade too small to have its own shelf. Side projects that began as a fix for the maker's own itch and never settled into a neat genre end up here too.
Browse it when you want the unexpected. Use the filters to narrow the pile, and sort by community votes if you would rather see what other visitors rated. If you are filing something yourself, check the other categories first, because a closer match helps the right people find your build. If nothing truly fits, this is the right drawer.
Other: questions answered
- What belongs in the Other category?
- Anything whose main purpose does not match another category on the site: unusual hybrids, one-off experiments, niche utilities and projects that cross several fields without leading in any. If a closer category exists, use that, since it puts your build in front of people already looking.
- Can I list in Other and in another category as well?
- Your main category is picked once when you submit, and it costs nothing. If you want more shelves, the $5 upgrade adds 3 extra categories, so Other can sit alongside a closer match.
- How do I get my project listed here?
- Open /submit and enter your website's URL. An AI writes a first-pass profile from your site, then you read it, correct what it got wrong and rewrite anything flat. Nothing is published until you approve it. A paid launch costs $5.
- How are the listings in Other ordered?
- By default the most recent arrivals sit at the front. Switch the sort to community votes to see what visitors rate highest. Votes cannot be purchased, so that ranking reflects what people actually thought of the builds.
- What should I look for when comparing projects in a mixed category?
- Check that the description says plainly who the product is for and what it does, that the site works, and that the maker is shipping updates. With unusual products, a clear problem statement matters more than a long feature list.
