What is the difference between WhittleOS and ChatGPT for idea validation?

ChatGPT can give a free second opinion on one idea you already have, but WhittleOS differs in sourcing ideas from markets and in how it handles validation. A Discovery run plans markets into sub-markets, runs live searches, reads pages, considers up to 150 candidates, and keeps at most 5 with linked evidence or a not-verified label. WhittleOS has a fixed checklist and weights in code so the model rates areas but never sets the total, and each run checks against problems found in earlier runs. ChatGPT hands you prose; WhittleOS hands you a short list, a gate that said no to the rest, and a decision you can hold yourself to.

How does WhittleOS make the Build it / Test it first / Drop it decision?

An idea you bring passes through 12 deal-breaker checks covering money, repeat revenue, pricing power, reach, support load, platform dependence, product viability without AI, founder fit, compliance, async selling, payback inside a year, and saleability. A hard failure on one is enough to drop the idea. The ratings are combined by a fixed decision matrix computed in code, so given the same check results and ratings, the call is always the same. The model's ratings vary between runs, but the standard and decision matrix do not.

Is my idea kept private?

Your ideas and founder profile are yours. WhittleOS does not sell them or publish them. Running an analysis sends your inputs to the providers that do the work—the AI provider and for Discovery runs the market name goes into search queries. Nothing else is shared and nobody trains on it.

What if a Discovery run fails or returns an unusable result?

If a run fails on WhittleOS's side, its credit is refunded automatically. Unused credit packs are refundable within 14 days. If a market is genuinely weak, WhittleOS returns nothing with the reasons rather than manufacture a promising idea, and you keep the rationale.

Does WhittleOS require customer discovery calls?

Never. WhittleOS is no-call and async by design. When it is time to validate, the plan is a landing page with a real call-to-action such as a waitlist, pre-order, or paid pilot, plus async outreach that fits your stated time budget. It never tells you to book 20 discovery calls.
