What it is

SymbolSymbol is a free, fast symbol keyboard for the web that provides access to thousands of text symbols. Users can copy symbols in one click and paste them anywhere, with no sign-up or installation required. The site includes over 200 symbol pages with meanings, variants and typing instructions. It features a copy panel that allows building entire lines of symbols. The tool also offers text generators for fancy fonts, bold, cursive, upside-down and glitch text, plus code lookup tools for Alt codes, HTML symbol codes and Unicode. All symbols are standard Unicode characters that paste as text into any application.

How do I copy and paste text symbols?

Click or tap any symbol and it is copied to your clipboard right away, so you can paste it anywhere with Ctrl+V, Cmd+V or a long press. Each symbol is also added to the copy panel, where you can build a whole line of symbols and copy it at once.

How do I type symbols on my keyboard?

On Windows, hold Alt and type the Alt code on the number pad, for example Alt+3 for ♥ or Alt+0169 for ©. On a Mac, press Control+Command+Space to open the Character Viewer. On phones, copying from this page is the fastest way. Open the ⋯ menu on any symbol to see its Alt code.

Why does a symbol show as an empty box?

The empty box means the font on that device has no drawing for the symbol. The symbol was still copied correctly and will show on devices that have a font for it. Common symbols like ♡ ★ ✓ → work almost everywhere.

Do you save the symbols I copy?

Only in your own browser. The copy panel is kept on your device, so it is still there when you refresh or open another page, and it is never sent to us. Press Clear to empty it. Your display choices – size, font and symbol style – are remembered the same way.

How do I use a symbol in HTML?

Open the ⋯ menu on a symbol to copy its HTML code, such as ♥ or ♥ for ♥, or its CSS code for use in a content property.
