What it is

Stackpeek is a free Chrome and Firefox browser extension that identifies the theme, apps and trackers running on any Shopify store. It catalogs 329 themes including paid ones, fingerprints 885 apps sorted by category, and names trackers from Meta, TikTok, Snap, Pinterest and Reddit. The extension requires no account and collects no browsing history.

When you click the icon on a Shopify storefront, Stackpeek displays results in about a second, showing the theme name and version, grouped apps with categories, identified trackers and infrastructure services. It also exports the store's product catalogue to CSV in Shopify's import format, reading from the store's public product feed or Shopify's public Storefront API. Detection is described as a best guess rather than a certificate, with low-confidence app matches marked as unverified.

The extension is open source under the MIT licence and publishes its full permission list with links to the code that uses each one. Permissions include reading the active tab when you click, running the detector script, drawing the results panel, storing an anonymous install ID, and optionally scanning tabs if you enable auto-scan. No browsing history, email addresses or affiliate links are collected.

Questions from the bench

Is it free?
Yes. Theme, app and tracker detection and the CSV product export are all free and need no account.
Does it detect paid themes?
Yes. The catalog covers 329 themes including paid ones. A theme forked from a catalog theme is reported as that theme, marked customized.
How do I check which Shopify theme a store is using?
Open the store and click Stackpeek. It reads the storefront's own theme metadata and reports the theme by name and version, rather than guessing from the markup. That takes about a second with no need to paste URLs into a form or wait on someone else's crawler.
Does it track my browsing?
No. It reads the page you're on when you click, and only then. Unless you turn on auto-scan, which scans each tab you switch to while the panel is open, exactly as a click would. Either way, no list of the sites you visit is kept.
Can I export a store's products?
Yes. Stackpeek exports the store's public product catalogue to a CSV in Shopify's import format up to the first 10,000 products, with prices, SKUs, tags, descriptions and image URLs. It reads the same public product feed any visitor can open.
