What it is
SketchUpConverter converts SketchUp files saved in newer versions to older versions that your software can open. Upload a .skp file, choose your SketchUp version (2017 through 2025), and download a compatible copy. The service runs entirely online in your web browser on Mac, Windows or Linux, with no software installation required.
Each conversion preserves geometry, groups, components, materials, textures, tags and dimensions. The first file converts free with just an email signup; additional conversions cost $3.90 per file or $9.99 per month for 30 conversions. Files up to 100 MB convert free, and monthly subscribers can handle files up to 150 MB. Uploaded files are deleted immediately after successful conversion, with converted files kept for 7 days.

- Why won't my SketchUp file open?
- Files saved in newer SketchUp versions may not open in older software. SketchUp 2020 and older cannot open files from newer versions at all. SketchUp 2021 and newer can usually open them but with features left out. Converting to your version fixes this problem.
- How do I convert a SketchUp file to a lower version?
- Upload the .skp file on the site, select your SketchUp version, and download the converted copy. Everything happens online so you don't need the newer SketchUp installed, and most files are ready in a few seconds.
- Which SketchUp versions can I convert to?
- You can convert to any version from SketchUp 2017 to 2025, and upload files from any version up to SketchUp 2026. Versions older than 2017 are not supported.
