Sendmux is an email API designed for AI agents and SaaS platforms. It provides a unified API surface for sending and receiving email, with support for multiple outbound providers including SMTP, Gmail, Microsoft 365, and Amazon SES. The platform includes dedicated inboxes on custom domains or shared @myagent.mx addresses, automatic provider failover and routing with weighted distribution, and message parsing that returns clean JSON with extracted text, reducing LLM token usage by up to 80%. Built for multi-tenant deployments, it offers team and mailbox-scoped API keys, signed webhooks, Server-Sent Events, and usage-based billing with no per-seat or per-mailbox fees.

Questions from the bench

What is Sendmux?
Sendmux is the email API for AI agents and SaaS platforms combining multi-provider outbound sending, agent inboxes, dedicated inbound mailboxes, team-scoped controls, webhooks, Server-Sent Events, and usage-based billing. Teams can send through their own providers or managed sending, then read replies through the Mailbox API, IMAP, webhooks, or live events.
Can I use my own SMTP or email provider?
Yes. You can connect SMTP, Gmail, Microsoft 365, or Amazon SES sending accounts. Delivery groups let you set weights, quotas, and sender-domain routing. Sendmux skips unhealthy providers and keeps traffic inside the providers allowed by the API key or mailbox credential.
Does Sendmux include inbound mailboxes?
Yes. You can create mailboxes on myagent.mx or verified custom domains. Each mailbox can receive mail, send mail, hold messages, expose mailbox-scoped credentials, set sender rules, and stream events. Rejected inbound mail from mailbox rules is not billed as accepted inbound usage.
What are Sendmux webhooks and Server-Sent Events for?
Webhooks allow your backend to receive signed event POSTs even when an agent is offline. Server-Sent Events let an agent keep an HTTP connection open and react immediately as soon as a mailbox event arrives. Both are live product surfaces.
What can an AI agent do with Sendmux?
An agent can send, receive, reply, read threads, stream new mailbox events, download attachments, and use scoped credentials tied to one mailbox. The Mailbox API exposes messages, threads, folders, identities, usage, quotas, submissions, and clean message content, so agents don't need a human webmail session.
