Quick I Ching

What it is

Quick I Ching is a free web platform for casting and reflecting on I Ching hexagrams using the Book of Changes. Users choose from four documented casting methods—Three-Coin, Yarrow Stalks, Mei Hua Yi Shu current-time convention, or Manual Cast—and follow a reflective loop of Ask, Cast, Understand, and Reflect. Every reading displays the primary hexagram, any changing lines, and a relating hexagram when movement exists, along with a free basic interpretation and visible casting facts.

The platform preserves traditional line values (6, 7, 8, 9) and keeps the casting process transparent so users can trace how the cast became the final hexagram structure. Users may optionally enter a question before casting; this question remains optional for free readings and is not sent to AI. The service also offers Deep Reading, a paid feature available when credits are in stock that connects a user's question and situation context to their exact cast and cited source material.

Questions from the bench

Is the I Ching online reading free?

Yes. The complete interpretation of the cast is free across all four public casting methods with no sign-in or payment required. Free readings never call AI or apply the cast to your private situation.

Do I have to enter a question before casting?

No. A question is optional for a free reading. If you want a Deep Reading about your specific situation, enter a clear core question before your first Three-Coin toss; after that line is cast, the question is fixed.

What does Deep Reading add?

Deep Reading relates your exact Three-Coin cast—including its changing lines and relating hexagram when one exists—to the question you set before casting, your situation context, and cited Quick I Ching source material. It requires sign-in, enough context, and one credit; high-risk requests are blocked.

Where is my reading saved?

Public V1 uses browser sessionStorage for the current reading. If you choose Save reading, the History page stores a maximum of 50 records in this browser's localStorage as local records, not a cloud account history.

Does an I Ching online reading predict the future?

No. An I Ching online reading is presented as an interpretive framework for examining patterns and change, not deterministic prediction, and it does not replace medical, legal, financial, or safety advice.
