What it is

ordecto.com, as visitors see it

Ordecto is a browser-based PDF accessibility workspace from Frontdoor Labs Ltd. It automatically tags PDF elements including headings, lists, tables, figures, links, form fields, and reading order using AI vision on every page. The tool then repairs the file and checks it against PDF/UA-1 and WCAG 2.2 standards, keeping machine findings separate from human review. Users can edit tags in the editor and export evidence with their files. The platform is designed to help teams check, repair, and document PDFs without replacing specialist judgment for complex decisions like reading order and figure descriptions.

Questions from the bench

Does Ordecto tag PDFs automatically?
Yes. Ordecto auto-tags headings, lists, tables, figures with descriptions, links, form fields, artifacts and reading order, then repairs the file and checks it against PDF/UA and WCAG 2.2. You can review what needs a person's judgment and change any tag in the editor.
What is a tagged PDF?
A tagged PDF has a structure tree that names headings, lists, tables, figures, and links in reading order. Tags are required for PDF/UA-1 but are not, by themselves, a WCAG 2.2 or PDF/UA-1 pass.
Can auto-tag replace a specialist?
No. Automation can repair qualified mechanics and produce a reviewable candidate, but three judgments still need a person: reading order, figure meaning, and complex tables. A finished workflow is not the same as a released, evidence-backed PDF.
What is PDF/UA versus WCAG for PDFs?
PDF/UA is the ISO standard for accessible PDF files. WCAG is the web content standard that many PDF policies also reference. Ordecto targets PDF/UA-1 with WCAG 2.2, EN 301 549, Section 508, and Matterhorn as referenced test models.
Do I need a card to start?
No. Free needs only an email sign-in for repair and downloads. Team and other plans are agreed with the company before anything is billed.
