Will my highlights still be there when I come back?

Yes. Highlights, notes, drawings, and blurs are saved for each page and restored every time you return. If a site significantly changes a page after you highlight it, some highlights may not reattach on the page — but they stay saved with their original text and context, and Pro users can still find them in All Notes and the dashboard.

Is my research data private and secure?

Your privacy is the baseline. On the free plan, every annotation stays on the device where you created it. On Pro, your highlights, folders, and sticky notes sync to your own private MarklyKit cloud so PDF exports and AI connectors can reach them — only you can read it, and you can delete it at any time. Drawings and blurs are always device-local.

Can I use MarklyKit for academic research?

Yes, it is specifically designed for academic research. With Pro, you can export your findings as citation-ready PDFs that include the source URL, timestamp, and your semantic tags, ready for long-term archiving.

Which browsers are supported?

MarklyKit works on Chrome, Edge, and Brave. The platform focuses on Chromium-based browsers to keep the experience consistent and reliable across complex sites.

Do I need an account to start highlighting?

No account is needed to start. Install the extension and begin highlighting immediately — your annotations are stored locally on your device.
