LimeWire™ is a browser-based file sharing and AI platform. Upload files of any size and share them as a link that works on any device with no account needed and nothing to install. Files are end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device.
Beyond file sharing, LimeWire™ includes AI Studio for generating images and videos from descriptions, browser-based file tools for converting and editing documents, images, audio and video, an open research library of papers and datasets, and an MCP server for AI assistants.
The platform offers both free and paid plans. The free plan allows 4 GB uploads with 40 GB storage and 3-day file expiry. Paid plans support up to 500 GB transfers with longer storage and no expiry dates.
Relaunched in 2022, LimeWire™ shares its name with the peer-to-peer application shut down in 2010 but is a completely different product built from scratch as a web service.

- What is LimeWire™?
- LimeWire™ is a browser-based file sharing platform where you upload a file, get a link, and share it with others. No software installation or account is required to start sharing. It also includes AI tools for images, video and documents, plus file conversion and editing capabilities.
- Is LimeWire™ safe to use?
- Yes. Files are encrypted before they leave your device and stay encrypted in storage. If you share without an account, the encryption key stays on your device and is carried in the link itself, so nobody including LimeWire™ can open the file without the link you sent. There is no installer to download, so there is no risk of picking up anything malicious.
- How large a file can I send?
- Up to 4 GB per transfer without an account or on the free plan. The Pro plan supports 250 GB transfers and the Pro+ plan supports 500 GB transfers. There is no file type restriction — video, archives, design files and raw footage all go through the same way.
- How long do my files stay online?
- Files stay online for three days on the free plan and for anonymous uploads. On paid Pro and Pro+ plans, files never expire on their own, though you can set an expiry date yourself if you want one.
- Can I share files without an account?
- Yes. You can upload and share a file without signing up, with the limits of the free plan (up to 4 GB, 3-day expiry, 20 downloads per file daily). Creating an account keeps your files in one place and raises the daily download limit and storage capacity.
