Layerwise

What it is

Layerwise is a desktop application that combines AI-powered code generation with local development and publishing capabilities. You describe your app idea, and Layerwise plans it, writes the code on your computer, and previews it live. Your code stays on your machine in a real folder you can open in any editor, connect to GitHub, or export. When ready, you publish your app to the web with your own domain or a layerwise.site address.

Every project includes a dedicated database, file storage, authentication with sign-in codes and password resets, transactional email, analytics, and logs—all integrated into one workspace. You can build with your own ChatGPT or Claude plan through Codex or Claude Code, or use Layerwise credits. The app supports multiple AI models including Claude, GPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, and Kimi, with the ability to switch between them mid-project.

Why is Layerwise a desktop app?

Running on your computer lets Layerwise work with what you already have. It runs Codex and Claude Code right there, so you can build with your ChatGPT or Claude plan. Your code lives in a folder on your computer, so an outage never puts it at risk, and you can open it in your own editor or terminal anytime. Your apps still go live on the web, at a layerwise.site address or your own domain.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Free includes one public project, $5 in monthly credits, and up to 10 messages per day with supported open-weight models. You do not need a credit card to start.

How does billing work?

Every plan includes monthly credits, and paid plans are billed monthly or annually. AI while you build and everything your published apps use, including traffic, databases, file storage, and email, draw from that one balance. AI is charged at each model provider's token price.

What happens when credits run out?

We email your team when 25% and 10% of your credits are left, and again when they run out. Your published apps then switch to read-only mode: pages keep loading, while sign-ins, form submissions, uploads, and email pause. Adding credits or upgrading brings everything back right away.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

It stays put. Databases and files keep using credits while an app is paused, so adding credits first covers that balance. If a paused app isn't restored within 90 days, we delete its database and files.
