Kaizen OCR & PDF is a Windows desktop application that extracts text from images and PDFs using four OCR engines: Tesseract, Paddle, Paddle-AI, and Azure. It processes documents entirely offline on your computer with no data upload, making it ideal for sensitive medical, legal and real-estate documents.

Beyond OCR, the app includes a full PDF toolkit: edit and merge PDFs, combine images, convert between file formats, extract images from PDFs, deskew documents, and capture screenshots. It supports over 100 languages including handwriting recognition, batch processes thousands of pages at once, and records HD video screencasts.

All features run offline by default except the optional Azure Searchable PDF feature. The app offers 7 free uses of every feature, with Pro ($18/year) and Lifetime ($49 one-time) plans removing all limits.

The only exception is the optional Azure Searchable PDF feature, which sends documents to your own Azure resource.
