Questions from the bench

Is Haulest a mover?
No. Haulest is a research desk and a quote line that does not operate trucks or provide moving services itself.
What is the 110% rule?
On a US interstate COD non-binding estimate, the mover must hand over the shipment if you pay up to 110% of the estimate plus agreed extras. However, this is not a cap on the whole job and you can still be billed the rest later.
Do I need a USDOT for a same-city job?
Interstate household goods moves require FMCSA registration. Many same-state local jobs need a state household goods permit instead. You should check both if the truck might cross a state line.
Where do I look up a mover?
You can look up a mover using SAFER for the USDOT number. Haulest provides a lookup tool that accesses the official census when available. Note that registered is not the same as authorized to haul household goods.
Do you publish ranked US movers?
No. Haulest will not invent a 5-star strip or brand scorecard. Star ratings only appear on individual mover cards from their official reviews.
