What it is
FeedDub is a Chrome extension that adds dubbed audio in 20 languages to videos on YouTube, Netflix, Bilibili, TED, and Coursera. Click the microphone in the video player to replace the original audio with a dubbed track that lands on every line in sync with the picture. The extension offers a male and female voice for each language, switchable from the popup.
Dubbing is prepared in advance to reduce waiting time. The first watch prepares the audio, and rewatching the same video costs no wait at all. The service uses speech recognition when captions are unavailable and can access the site's audio. Netflix requires original-language captions.
FeedDub works at low latency with tight sync: each line is spoken inside its own window so the voice never drifts behind the video. Scrubbing resynchronizes the dub at the new position. The extension does not need signing in to get started: two new videos a day are free without an account, and rewatching is never limited.

- Subtitles require you to keep your eyes on the screen, which is tiring for long videos. FeedDub's dub speaks the words while keeping the original audio audible underneath, so you can watch like you are listening to a podcast and give your eyes back to the picture.
- Why not use real-time interpretation instead?
- An interpreter is always a few seconds behind, and every viewing starts that wait over again. FeedDub prepares what is coming and then speaks it on the original timing, so the voice tracks the picture and the second time you open a video there is nothing to wait for.
- What happens when I scrub the video?
- Dubbing resynchronizes at the new position. If that part is not ready, playback may pause while it is prepared. Switching videos stops the previous dub; click the microphone to start the new one.
