What it is

dblift.com, as visitors see it

DBLift is an open-source, Apache 2.0 database migration tool for Python teams that brings database migration work into Python-native review, CI, and release workflows. It allows teams to write versioned SQL or Python migration files and preview every statement before it runs using the dry-run command. The tool applies migrations under a lock, records each version in a schema history table, and provides commands to show applied, pending and reversible migrations, validate history, and rollback with undo files. It supports twenty database engines including PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, DuckDB, MongoDB and PostgreSQL-compatible clouds, plus a Python API, pytest plugin, GitHub Action and MCP server for AI coding agents. The open-source core is free under Apache 2.0, while Pro and Enterprise tiers add schema comparison, audited data fixes, offline plans, preflight rehearsal and retained release evidence.

What it is built with

  • Preview SQL with dry-run before execution
  • Migration validation and consistency checking
  • Schema comparison and diff
  • SQL review without execution
  • Undo and rollback capabilities
  • Python API and pytest plugin
  • Audited data corrections
  • GitHub Action and MCP server for AI agents
  • Migration history tracking in schema history table
