CalcAttendance

What it is

CalcAttendance is a free, browser-based attendance calculator designed for university and college students. Users enter their classes attended, total classes held, and target attendance percentage to instantly see whether they are above, at, or below their institution's threshold.

The tool provides four main functions: checking current attendance status with colour-coded feedback, calculating how many remaining classes a student can miss while staying at target, determining how many consecutive sessions must be attended to recover if below the required percentage, and tracking attendance across multiple subjects in one place.

All calculations happen in the user's browser with no account required and no data sent to servers. The calculator handles the core formula of (classes attended ÷ total classes held) × 100 and supports target thresholds of 75%, 80%, 85%, and 90% to match different institutional policies.

Questions from the bench

What is the minimum attendance requirement?

Rules vary by institution. Many colleges and universities ask for around 75% attendance, while some programmes use 80% or 85%. Always check your own handbook or portal for the threshold that applies to you.

How do I calculate my attendance percentage?

Divide classes attended by classes held, then multiply by 100. For example, 42 ÷ 50 × 100 = 84%.

Can I recover my attendance if it drops below the limit?

Often yes, by attending remaining classes. However, recovery depends on how many sessions are left. If too few classes remain, the target may be mathematically out of reach.

How many classes can I miss in a semester?

It depends on your total classes, current attendance record, remaining sessions, and your target percentage. Use the calculator with your real numbers rather than relying on a generic estimate.

What happens if my attendance falls below 75%?

Consequences depend on your school. Some students may lose internal marks, receive a warning, or be blocked from an exam sitting. Others can apply for condonation.
