What it is

ArabicKeyboard.ai is a free, browser-based Arabic typing tool designed for people who need to write Arabic on keyboards without Arabic letters. It features a full on-screen Arabic 101 keyboard with Shift and collapsible diacritics, automatic detection while typing in English that suggests Arabic conversions, and word suggestions with optional dialect support for Moroccan Darija and Egyptian Arabic.

The tool supports multiple input methods: users can type with the on-screen keyboard, use English-letter transliteration by phonetically typing Arabic words, or use Arabizi (chat-alphabet) recognition with numbers and letters. It includes wrong-keyboard repair for text accidentally typed on the wrong layout, and can add Arabic diacritics (tashkeel) to text.

All processing happens locally in the browser with no accounts, cloud history, or ads. Users can download their Arabic text as PNG images in three different fonts (Naskh, Ruqʿah, Kufi) or as UTF-8 text files. The site is operated by Mustapha El Amrani and hosted on Vercel.

How does automatic Arabic detection work?

By default, your keyboard types in English. If what you type looks like it should become Arabic, a suggestion appears for you to review and apply. Nothing changes until you choose to apply the suggestion. You can also switch to direct Arabic typing by choosing Type Arabic with a Latin keyboard.

What is Arabizi and how do I convert it?

Arabizi uses ordinary letters plus numbers for sounds English letters cannot spell. For example, 3 represents ع and 7 represents ح. You can type Arabizi and suggested Arabic words will appear for you to review and apply, with up to six choices.

How does wrong-keyboard repair work?

If you meant to type Arabic but your system was still set to Latin, you get garbled characters. This tool reverse-maps each character by its physical key position to recover the Arabic you intended, working on both Arabic 101/QWERTY and Arabic 102/AZERTY layouts.

Where is my text stored when I use this keyboard?

All typing is processed locally in your browser. Your text is never sent to a server unless you deliberately click a search button to send it to Google or YouTube. Files are created in your browser and the site does not receive your text.
